Deep Dive: Using WIDA MODEL to Support Instructional Planning for Multilingual Learners

November 9, 2022 | 8:00 am

All Time are U.S. Central Time
(Europe afternoon/Asia evening session)

WIDA MODEL is an English language proficiency assessment for students in kindergarten through grade 12. MODEL test scores are used to support a variety of high-stakes decisions about multilingual learners in international schools, particularly to provide data on students’ progress in developing the English language skills needed to access the content of the classroom. The aim of this webinar is to provide resources and strategies so educators can make good use of MODEL test scores to support students’ ongoing English language development.

In this webinar, the presenters aim to help educators better understand how WIDA MODEL test scores may be used to support instructional planning decisions for multilingual learners and their teachers. We briefly describe the test scores that students receive after taking WIDA MODEL, then consider the rich resources available to educators to understand the test scores in detail. Finally, we explain how these resources provide valuable information for educators as they use WIDA MODEL scores to plan for future instruction.

This session will be presented by Mark Chapman, Senior Assessment Innovation Manager, Heather Elliott, Lead Assessment Specialist, and Jennifer Feldmann, Assessment Content Specialist at WIDA.
