Pedagogía con respeto: An Introduction to the Spanish Language Development Framework
This bilingual workshop focuses on the theoretical and pedagogical foundations of the WIDA Spanish Language Development Framework. Participants reflect on current practice to determine ways to apply the WIDA standards and related tools to inform curriculum design, instruction, and assessment.
Pedagogía con respeto: Using WIDA Standards and Tools to Support Multilingual Students
This bilingual workshop explores the WIDA language development standards for Spanish and English. Participants reflect on language use in their curriculum and instruction through the application of various components of the WIDA standards and related tools in both languages. The workshop also engages participants in discussions about unique language practices of multilingual students and in critical conversations about how to strategically use these practices to leverage student learning.
Una Voz Unida: Pairing Languages and Standards to Advance Student Learning
This bilingual workshop is a unique opportunity for teams of educators (ELD teachers, bilingual/dual language teachers, and school leaders) to forge or enrich a curriculum that promotes the seamless instruction of multilingual learners in English and Spanish. Based on WIDA resources, including ELD and SLD K-12 standards, Can Do Descriptors, Key Uses and los descriptores Podemos, the workshop offers an aligned system with tools that encourage educators to work together to maximize students' academic success.
BUENO/WIDA: Exploring Standards for Equitable Bilingual Education

Participants in this two-day workshop will have the opportunity to discuss and learn about equitable dual language programming.
We will delve into topics about:
- school and district context, culture, and climate
- the intersection of language development across programs
- the structures and leadership for dual language education
- standard-based instruction in dual language programs
Participants will create an action plan that promotes equitable educational opportunities for multilingual learners. This planning tool is designed for immediate implementation.
Pedagogía con Respeto: Using WIDA Standards and Tools to Support Multilingual Students

This introduction to the WIDA Spanish Language Development (SLD) Standards centers around an asset-based approach to teaching and learning Spanish within academic settings. Participants will explore WIDA standards and tools, such as Los descriptors Podemos and Can Do Descriptors, and reflect upon implications for instruction in bilingual programs. Activities and conversations will focus on maximizing meaning making within academic contexts and the linguistic repertoires of multilingual students in bilingual programs. The workshop also engages participants in discussions around unique language practices of multilingual students, such as translanguaging, and ways educators can align Spanish and English instruction across their bilingual program.

WIDA Español: Differentiation for Multilingual Learners

Multilingual learners need instruction that is differentiated to meet the needs unique to learning an additional language and grade-appropriate content. Participants will approach the idea of differentiation of language from an asset-based perspective, recognizing that ELLs bring many contributions to the school community. Participants will collaborate to customize instruction for multilingual learners utilizing the WIDA ELD and SLD Frameworks. While planning, participants will have time to reflect on how to leverage productive struggle within a safe learning environment.
