The Alternate ACCESS for ELLs is an assessment of English language proficiency (ELP) for students in Grades 1-12 who are classified as English language learners (ELLs) and who have significant cognitive disabilities that prevent their meaningful participation in the ACCESS for ELLs assessments. The test is based on Alternate Model Performance Indicators (AMPIs), which provide expectations of what students should be able to process and produce at a given Alternate English Language Proficiency level. Participants will work collaboratively to strengthen their understanding of test administration and scoring, to understand the underpinnings of the assessment, and to become aware of the resources available after the training.
This training is designed for Special Education Teachers, ELL Teachers, and Program Leaders who will be involved in administering the Alternate ACCESS for ELLs test.
Participants will be able to
- Explain the Alternate ACCESS for ELLs test participation criteria and administration procedures.
- Practice administering the test with Alternate ACCESS for ELLs test materials.
