Optimizing Learning for All Students
This course is a four day exploration of how we can integrate, rather than fragment, education and ensure all teachers collaborate to serve all learners. We know that students receiving EAL and Learning Support are not necessarily discrete populations, and we know that all students benefit from the combined expertise of all specialists. In this highly interactive course, participants will explore how effective collaboration supports equitable outcomes for all learners.
We will consider how identity and values impact our practice and how educators can provide greater access to the curriculum, while providing learning opportunities that support linguistic, academic and social/emotional development. We will practice using specific tools for collaboration that integrate learning from Cognitive Coaching and Adaptive Schools. Throughout the workshop, we will model the 21st-century collaboration skills that both students and teachers can use to maximize learning.
Join us as we ask
- How can a school community create rewarding learning experiences for every student?
- How do we nurture success for students with unique language and learning profiles?
- How can we build capacity in one another to serve all of our learners?
- Jon Nordmeyer, WIDA International Program Director
- Kristel Solomon-Saleem, Director of Learner Support at Hong Kong Academy
