WIDA offers supplemental assessment training for test administrators and others who support multilingual learners who take our ACCESS, Screener and MODEL assessments. These workshops offer more comprehensive training than the required certification courses and are available for purchase to bring to your school or district.

ACCESS for ELLs Online Test Administrator Training

During this training, test administrators explore how the WIDA Standards and Assessment System is connected to the ACCESS for ELLs Online. Participants will learn to administer the online test to students. All participants must have computers or tablets and an internet connection to access sample items and the WIDA Assessment Management System.

    ACCESS for ELLs Paper Test Administrator Training

    During this training, test administrators will explore how the WIDA Standards and Assessment System is connected to the ACCESS for ELLs Paper. Participants will learn how to administer and monitor the group sections of the tests and there will be a focus on administering and scoring the speaking section of the assessment.

      ACCESS for ELLs Test Coordinator Training

      During the training, participants will learn about ordering and distributing materials, setting up testing schedules, monitoring test administrator certifications, and many other details. All participants must have computers or tablets and an internet connection to access sample items and the WIDA Assessment Management System.

        Alternate ACCESS for ELLs Training

        The Alternate ACCESS for ELLs is an assessment of English language proficiency (ELP) for students in Grades 1-12 who are classified as English language learners (ELLs) and who have significant cognitive disabilities that prevent their meaningful participation in the ACCESS for ELLs assessments. The test is based on Alternate Model Performance Indicators (AMPIs), which provide expectations of what students should be able to process and produce at a given Alternate English Language Proficiency level. Participants will work collaboratively to strengthen their understanding of test administration and scoring, to understand the underpinnings of the assessment, and to become aware of the resources available after the training.

          The ACCESS for ELLs Score Reports provide specific information on students' academic English language proficiency. During this training participants will explore how the WIDA Standards and Assessment System is connected to the ACCESS for ELLs score reports. Participants will examine the different types and uses of the various score reports.

            Interpreting ACCESS for ELLs Score Reports for Instruction (Full Day)

            The ACCESS for ELLs Score Reports provide specific information on students' academic English language proficiency. During this training, participants will explore how the WIDA Standards and Assessment System is connected to the ACCESS for ELLs Score Reports. Participants will examine the different types and uses of score reports. They will also make connections between the students’ proficiency scores and WIDA Performance Definitions.

              Kindergarten ACCESS for ELLs Test Administrator Training

              This training is designed for test administrators of the Kindergarten ACCESS for ELLs. During this training test administrators will explore how the WIDA Standards and Assessment System is connected to Kindergarten ACCESS for ELLs in its unique test design.

              Participants will learn to administer and score the Kindergarten assessment. It is suggested that participants bring Kindergarten MODEL kits to the training, if possible.

                WIDA MODEL Online Test Administrator Training

                This training is for test administrators of the WIDA MODEL (Measure of Developing English Language) Online. The WIDA MODEL is a series of English language proficiency assessments for Kindergarten through Grade 12. However, Kindergarten MODEL is only available in a paper kit format. Educators can use MODEL as an identification/placement assessment for newly enrolled multilingual learners or as an interim progress monitoring assessment. Participants will learn how to administer, monitor, and score as applicable each language domain in the assessment.

                During this training, participants will work collaboratively to strengthen their understanding of the administration of WIDA Screener Online. This includes learning to administer the online assessment to students. Particular attention will be given to developing inter-rater reliability when scoring the speaking and writing domains. Participants will utilize a multitude of practice items to be scored with the scoring scales.

                  During this training, participants will work collaboratively to strengthen their understanding of how to administer the assessment. This includes test administration beginning with the entry task, and then continuing to Path A or Path B. Particular attention will be given to developing inter-rater reliability when scoring the speaking and writing domains. Participants will utilize a multitude of practice items to be scored with the scoring scales.
