Hot off the press! This new WIDA Focus Bulletin illustrates how educators in International Baccalaureate (IB) schools are integrating WIDA resources as they design lessons for multilingual learners.

We are often asked how WIDA can be used with the International Baccalaureate (IB) program since many international schools use both WIDA resources and the IB curriculum, and half of all IB schools in the US are located in WIDA states. This new Focus Bulletin includes insights shared by educators around the world about how the two frameworks are compatible. We interviewed teachers at international schools about how they integrate WIDA and IB to serve multilingual learners. Four main themes were identified: inclusive environments building on the strengths of all learners, language development as an integral part of teaching and learning, providing academic rigor and accessibility, measuring language development in academic contexts as part of the teaching and learning cycle.
