Spotlight: Amber Wilke Fournier

Amber Wilke Fournier joins WIDA as our new Deputy Director. Amber brings a mix of expertise from her 20 years in educational services, leading teams to solve complex client problems and deliver high-impact results to serve children and educators.

Amber has had multiple leadership roles in program management, sales and operational delivery at both NWEA and ACT. Amber also has a background in strategic planning and consulting for global foundations and top domestic companies. She possesses a wide perspective on best practices for leading staff and scaling organizations. A systems thinker and lifelong learner, Amber thrives on continuous improvement and positive transformation. These experiences give her a wide perspective of the impact quality assessments play in understanding student learning and determining what learners can do.

Amber is looking forward to bringing her perspectives to the field of multilingual learning while implementing the WIDA mission to advance academic language development and academic achievement for children and youth who are culturally and linguistically diverse through high quality standards, assessments, research and professional learning for educators.

Amber loves to travel and has a long list of locations in mind when it's safe to explore once again. In the meantime, she's stocking up on travel memoirs and historical fiction.
