Katie Schultz is an assessment content specialist at WIDA and focuses on enhancements and improvements to the WIDA MODEL assessments.

Katie Schultz joined WIDA in August 2020 and is an assessment content specialist with the WIDA Assessment team. In her role, Katie supports enhancements and improvements to the WIDA MODEL assessments, including the refinement of scoring training and administration materials, quality-control processes, and work with internal stakeholders to help make MODEL resources the best that they can be.

Katie has a B.A. in Psychology from Swarthmore College where she minored in Spanish and French, and an M.A. in Linguistics from the University of Amsterdam. She previously worked as an intern for Pearson Knowledge Technologies where she supported the development of an early prototype of the Test of English Language Learning (TELL) assessment.

Katie recently moved to the U.S. from the Netherlands, where she worked for the International Baccalaureate (IB) as an assessment research and design researcher. At the IB, Katie contributed to internal research focused on improving assessment and scoring practices. As a part of the curriculum development process for IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) courses, she worked in collaboration with international educators to ensure that all new and modified assessments would be valid, reliable, and manageable for students, teachers, and examiners. As a result, Katie has a deep knowledge of IB programs, with particular expertise in MYP and DP assessment.

In her new role at WIDA, Katie is committed to supporting all schools and educators who rely on WIDA assessments to support multilingual language development and learning.
