In Case You Missed It

The WIDA ELD Standards Framework team has released an FAQ series on the 2020 Edition. Based on questions from educators from across the world, this five-part series answers questions like What are the major shifts in the 2020 Edition? and How are the Key Language Uses (2020 Edition) different from the Can Do Descriptors, Key Uses Edition (2016)?

The WIDA Professional Learning team has added two new micro-offerings to the free virtual learning series, Supporting Multilingual Learners During COVID-19. The five-part series is designed to help educators navigate some of the nuances of teaching and supporting multilingual children and youth this school year. Each 30-minute learning opportunity provides educators with tools to effectively teach multilingual learners during the pandemic. Access all five courses via the Distance Teaching and Learning webpage.

The WIDA Early Years team has written a new Focus Bulletin titled Promoting Equity for Young Multilingual Children and Their Families that offers ideas for taking a language-focused approach to equitable caregiving and instructional practice in early care and education (ECE) settings. The Focus Bulletin highlights voices from the field and offers reflection questions about what it means to promote equity for multilingual children and their families.
