Marilia Gutiérrez is an editor at WIDA, where she is part of the editing, writing and design team. She is a language professional with a background in education and linguistics, as well as translation studies, from the Inter-American University of Puerto and the University of Puerto Rico.
She began her career as an elementary ESL teacher in San Juan, but has since devoted her professional life to language and communications, including editing in both English and Spanish for news organizations in Puerto Rico and the United States. Additionally, she has extensive experience in translating and interpreting curriculum for special education and healthcare. Marilia is deeply committed to inclusivity and accessibility and looks at communications through a language justice lens.
