Centering Family Voices: Using Cultural Humility to Inform Educational Opportunities

This WIDA webinar offered a dynamic exploration of family engagement, focusing on building authentic partnerships through cultural humility in the context of multilingualism. Participants explored language-focused family engagement as a powerful approach to honoring and integrating families’ perspectives. The WIDA “Tell Us About Your Child” survey was highlighted as a promising tool that centers parental and caregiver voice in supporting students with complex communication needs. Examining English Learner Testing, Proficiency, and Growth: Recovery Since the COVID-19 Pandemic

This fourth edition of WIDA's COVID-19 report describes the outcomes of English learners (ELs) across the WIDA Consortium based on their scores in WIDA ACCESS Online from 2018 through 2025. English learners' average proficiency remains below pre-pandemic levels; however, in the most recent academic year (2024–2025), overall English language proficiency and growth increased for ELs across the WIDA Consortium.
