What to know: WIDA Core Learning Collection

WIDA Consortium members gain access to high-quality professional learning designed to support educators serving multilingual learners. Beginning in the 2026-27 school year, WIDA is introducing the WIDA Core Learning Collection. This collection is a hub for WIDA’s Self-Paced Workshops, On-Demand Videos and educator resources.

Whether you’re a classroom teacher, specialist or administrator, the Core Learning Collection is your go-to for flexible, research-based and applicable learning that fits your schedule and supports multilingual learners.

What is the WIDA Core Learning Collection?

The Core Learning Collection is a newly organized series that brings together WIDA’s Self-Paced Workshops, new On-Demand Videos and professional learning resources into one cohesive experience.

Educators in WIDA Consortium states, territories and federal agencies receive access to everything in the Core Learning Collection. No fees, limits, or prerequisites for educators. Educators will be able to access the Core Learning Collection starting Sept. 1, 2026, through the WIDA Secure Portal.

The collection includes the following:

• Thirteen WIDA Self-Paced Workshops
• Seven WIDA On-Demand Videos released throughout the year
• Numerous resources aligned to WIDA frameworks, assessments and instructional practices

This new structure makes it easier than ever for educators to find, select and engage with learning that best supports their practice and students.

What’s new or notable for 2026-27?

The 2026-27 WIDA Core Learning Collection includes more than 20 offerings, spanning topics such as:

• Teaching with the WIDA English Language Development Standards Framework
• Content-area instruction in math, science, social studies and literacy
• Supporting multilingual learners with disabilities (NEW Self-Paced Workshop: Supporting MLs with Disabilities with Language and Communication)
• Teaching newcomers
• Bilingual education and the Marco de los estándares del desarrollo auténtico del lenguaje español de WIDA
• PreK-3 learning
• Supplemental WIDA Assessment workshops

How long does each workshop take?

Most WIDA Self-Paced Workshops range from one to four hours, and WIDA On-Demand Videos are typically under one hour.

This makes it easy for educators to fit learning into planning periods, independent professional development or collaborative learning with colleagues.

How does the Core Learning Collection benefit you and your students?

Multilingual learners deserve educators who feel confident, supported and equipped with the latest research-based practices. Educators deserve professional learning that is flexible, accessible, relevant, high-quality and grounded in WIDA’s belief in the assets multilingual learners bring to school.

Who can access the Core Learning Collection?

Every educator in a WIDA Consortium member state, territory or federal agency has access. If you support multilingual learners in any capacity, the Core Learning Collection is for you.
