Como directora asistente de política y extensión multilingüe, Grazzia Maria Mendoza Chirinos investiga, monitorea, reporta y disemina documentos de políticas públicas relacionados con educación bi/multilingüe, maneja las relaciones con organizaciones y líderes estatales y nacionales bi/multilingües e informa la estrategia general de WIDA Español. Ella funge como la experta nacional de extensión de WIDA sosteniendo relaciones con organizaciones y reportando sobre el panorama de política pública al liderazgo de WIDA y cuando aplique a los miembros del Consorcio. Cuenta con 32 años de experiencia en educación en todos los niveles incluyendo Pk-12, educación superior y educación de adultos. Adicionalmente, los últimos 17 años los ha dedicado a la formación profesional docente en Honduras y a nivel mundial a través de su trabajo de voluntariado con la Asociación TESOL Internacional en la cual sirvió como miembro de la Junta Directiva de 2019-2022. En los últimos 2 años y medio, Grazzia trabajo como investigadora para WIDA Español donde era responsable de a) coordinar la investigación con docentes y distritos locales, b) monitorear y mantener registros que contribuyesen a la investigación y evaluación dentro de programas educativos; y c) desarrollar actividades de investigación. Asimismo, Grazzia fue representante del oficial de contratos de la USAID Honduras manejando proyectos en un rango de $10 - $85 millones y apoyando a la Secretaría de Educación en Honduras en temas de calidad de educación, participación comunitaria en pro de la educación, desarrollo de metodologías de aprendizaje socioemocional, prevención de violencia y contribuciones al desarrollo de la fuerza laboral incluyendo desarrollo positivo para la juventud. Es una presentadora activa en conferencias en EUA y alrededor del mundo.
Grazzia tiene una licenciatura en Enseñanza del Inglés y maestría en Educación Internacional de la Universidad de Framingham en Massachussets, así como estudios de maestría en TESOL de la Universidad Pedagógica Nacional de Honduras.
As assistant director of multilingual policy and outreach, Grazzia Maria Mendoza Chirinos researches, monitors, reports, and disseminates policy documents tied to bi/multilingual education, managing relationships with state and national bi/multilingual education organizations and leaders, and informing the overall strategy for WIDA Español. She serves as WIDA's national outreach expert, maintaining relationships with peer organizations and reporting on the bi/multilingual policy landscape to WIDA leadership and, when relevant, the Consortium Membership. She has 32 years of experience in education at all levels, including PK–12, higher education, and adult education. In addition, over the last 17 years, she has focused on teacher training in Honduras and worldwide through her volunteer work with TESOL International Association, where she served on the Board of Directors from 2019-2022. During the last two and a half years, she worked as a researcher for WIDA Español where she was responsible for a) coordinating research conducted with participating educators and local school districts; b) tracking and maintaining records contributing to the research and evaluation conducted in the different education programs; and c) conducting research activities. She is also a former contract officer representative for USAID Honduras, where she managed projects ranging between $10 - $85 million and supported the Ministry of Education in Honduras in quality of education, community engagement for education, development of social and emotional learning and violence prevention methodologies, as well as contributions to workforce development and positive youth development. She is an active conference presenter in the USA and globally.
Grazzia has an undergraduate degree in Teaching English and a master’s degree in international education from Framingham University, as well as graduate studies in TESOL from the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional de Honduras.
