John Fischer is the digital learning and media production administrator at WIDA. In this role, he oversees video production and editing, digital accessibility and eLearning data storage and updates. He also supports instructional design and serves as a liaison with professional learning staff and other departments to ensure the successful adoption, deployment and integration of learning technologies. John also oversees learning technology projects to ensure learning meets the needs of internal and external stakeholders and supports effortless learning, while researching current and future learning technology trends and best practices to determine their applicability to the organization.
John holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration & Policy Analysis from UW–Madison. In past roles, he was an ELL teacher; outreach program manager with UW-Extension; executive director for the WEA Professional Development Academy and the Quality Educator Interactive; director of administration for the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators; and a legal specialist in the U.S. Army Reserve.
John’s licenses and certifications include ELL and English teaching, school principal, consensus-building trainer, universal design for learning, and higher education leadership, among others.
