Assessments
Indiana uses WIDA Screener for Kindergarten and WIDA Screener to identify English learners (ELs). ACCESS for ELLs is administered to all identified ELs during the annual testing window, which opens in January.

Training Requirements

All Test Coordinators assigned to the District or School Coordinator user role are required to successfully complete the Online ACCESS for ELLs: Administration training course. Many components of this training course pertain to test coordinator tasks and responsibilities.
Test Administrators (TAs) must successfully complete the WIDA assessment training courses for the corresponding WIDA assessments, placement or annual, they are responsible for administering. Training courses are accessed via the WIDA Secure Portal and delivered in Canvas. Contact your CTC or WIDA Test Coordinator designee if access is needed for the WIDA Secure Portal or a specific training course.

Standards and Instructional Support
Indiana began implementation of the WIDA ELD Standards Framework, 2020 Edition, in fall of 2021. IDOE will continue to provide resources and professional learning opportunities throughout the 2022-2023 school year. These opportunities are detailed on the Indiana EL PD Opportunities Calendar, and the Indiana EL Moodle Community houses Standards resources and past PD.
