Exploring the WIDA PreK-3 Essential Actions

This workshop will introduce educators to the WIDA PreK-3 Essential Actions, a set of actions that support a language-focused approach to family and community engagement, and teaching and learning practices.

Educators will have an opportunity to build their knowledge and understanding of the Essential Actions and key concepts embedded in the Essential Actions. They will also reflect on their own ideologies, practices and settings.

Time to complete: approx. 2 hours

This workshop will invite participants to apply their learning and take action to enhance their current practices utilizing the tools and resources provided.

What you'll learn

Participants who complete this workshop will be able to

  • Examine the Essential Actions to reflect on their current practices.
  • Identify key concepts embedded in the Essential Actions.
  • Explore one, or more, of the Essential Actions and tools and resources to reflect on their personal beliefs, attitudes and practices.
  • Use the tools and resources to take action on one, or more, of the Essential Actions to apply to their current practice.
