Standards and Instructional Support
The Assessment Team at the WDE provides annual training, listed in the Professional Learning section of this page, that supports the implementation of the WIDA ELD Standards Framework, 2020 Edition. The training Explores ways to use the WIDA ELD Standards Framework to support multilingual learners’ achievement and language development. Participants that take the opportunity to join in the training will engage in exploration of materials and additional resources to support their classroom implementation.
An Individual English Learner Plan (IELP) is a locally created document that describes strategies, the academic and language needs, and goals for an EL student to be implemented in the classroom and assessments in order to help and monitor ELs to be successful. A language support team, which may include the EL student and caregivers, EL educators, classroom teachers, counselor, and a school administrator must create an IELP for each English Learner. See links to IELP templates included in the EL Guidebook.
