News Release: Introducing the Marco DALE: A groundbreaking framework for Spanish language development standards
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MADISON, Wis. – WIDA releases the Marco de los estándares del desarrollo auténtico del lenguaje español de WIDA (Marco DALE), WIDA’s latest Spanish language development standards framework. The Marco DALE is a framework for instruction, curriculum, professional development and assessments of Spanish language development of bi/multilingual learners who are learning academic content in Spanish.
The Marco DALE is designed to provide comprehensive support for bilingual classroom-level educator needs and works in tandem with the Marco de referencia de las artes del lenguaje del español de WIDA (Marco ALE) and the WIDA English Language Development Standards Framework, 2020 Edition. Additionally, the Marco DALE may be adapted to inform policies and initiatives that promote Spanish bilingual education and programs of Spanish as a heritage and world language. The Marco DALE is written in Spanish with English summaries.

The Marco DALE was developed with six Big Ideas in mind: equity, integration, collaboration, interaction, multiliteracies and transculturalism.
